Speed dating and the pros and cons

If you have ever been flicking through your local newspaper or been online on the website for your town then you may have come across advertisements for speed dating. This is something that has become rather popular of late as a way for people to meet potential new dates and hopefully find the love of their life. As with most things in life, there are both advantages and disadvantages to be had from speed dating and you should take these into account before you dive right on in.

We will first take a look at the pros. Of course, when you only have a few minutes with each potential new date you can pretty much go by your first impressions on whether or not you actually like them which can spell an end to that awkward first date that usually ends with you making your excuses early and making a run for it. If you like the guy or girl that you are sat opposite, you give their name a tick and if you don’t, you put a cross and you never have to see them again. It makes dating a much quicker process.

Of course, this speedy version of dating means that you could have added pressure to make a great impression which can make life even more awkward and nerve wracking than it already is. You might also miss a potential great catch simply because they made a bad first impression because they were also nervous. Not only that but another bad point that can be made about speed dating is the fact that is there any real way that you can make an educated decision on whether or not you want to see someone again simply from spending five minutes or so talking to them?

There are things to be said on both the side for speed dating and also the side against it but at the end of the day, it is worth a shot if you are looking for love and you never know who you might meet!
